WPIAL Playoff Picture heading into final week

WPIAL Class 4A

Section 1 - North Allegheny (9-0) has clinched the section title and will be the top seed in the WPIAL bracket. Pine-Richland (6-3) and Seneca Valley (5-4) also have qualified. Butler (3-6) and Shaler (3-6) are tied for the fourth spot. If they finish tied, both will qualify since they split during section play. Butler is at Seneca Valley and Shaler travels to Pine-Richland, both on Tuesday.

Section 2 - Baldwin (9-1) has clinch a tie for the section title. Upper St. Clair (8-3), Bethel Park (6-4), and Peters Township (6-4) also have qualified. Baldwin plays host to Bethel Park on Thursday.

Section 3 - Norwin (8-1), Penn-Trafford (7-2), and Hempfield (6-3) have qualified. Latrobe (3-6) and Connellsville (3-6) are tied for the fourth spot. Norwin plays host to Penn-Trafford on Tuesday. Latrobe is at Hempfield. Connellsville travels to Franklin Regional.

Section 4 - Oakland Catholic (11-0) has clinched a tie for the section title and can win outright with a victory Tuesday against visiting Armstrong (9-1). The River Hawks also have qualified. Plum (6-4), Kiski Area (5-5), and Fox Chapel (4-6) are battling for the final two spots. Kiski Area plays host to Fox Chapel Tuesday, then travels to Armstrong Thursday. Plum plays at Fox Chapel on Thursday.

WPIAL Class 3A

Section 1 - Indiana (9-1) has completed its section schedule and has clinched a tie for the title. Greensburg Salem (7-1), Gateway (4-4), and West Mifflin (4-5) also have qualified. West Mifflin plays at Greensburg Salem on Thursday.

Section 2 - Montour (9-1) and South Fayette (9-1) are tied for first place and have qualified, along with West Allegheny (7-3). The tie will be broken when Montour plays at South Fayette on Tuesday. West Allegheny plays at Montour on Thursday. Chartiers Valley (5-5) and Ambridge (4-6) are battling for the final berth.

Section 3 - Thomas Jefferson (10-0) has clinched a tie for the section title and can win outright with a win Thursday at Elizabeth Forward (9-1). Laurel Highlands (7-3) also has qualified. Yough (4-7), Albert Gallatin (3-7), and Uniontown (3-8) are battling for the final berth.

Section 4 - Knoch (11-0) has clinched the section title and will be the top seed in the WPIAL bracket. Central Valley (8-2) and Hampton (7-3) also have qualified. Mars (5-5) plays host to Blackhawk (4-6) Tuesday with the final berth on the line. Hampton travels to Knoch Tuesday and plays host to Mars on Thursday.

WPIAL Class 2A

Section 1 - Neshannock (11-0) has clinched the section title. Shenango (8-2) and Laurel (7-3) also have qualified. Mohawk (5-5) and Ellwood City (4-6) are battling for the final berth. Mohawk has the toughest road, as it plays at Shenango Tuesday and plays host to Neshannock Thursday. Shenango is at Laurel on Thursday.

Section 2 - Beaver (11-0) has clinch a tie for the section title and can win outright with a victory Tuesday against visiting Avonworth (9-1). Both teams have qualified, along with C.W. North Catholic (5-5) and South Side Beaver (5-6). North Catholic is at Avonworth on Thursday.

Section 3 - Waynesburg (11-0) has clinch a tie for the section title and can win outright with a victory Tuesday against visiting Beth-Center (9-1). Southmoreland (6-4) and McGuffey (4-6) also have qualified. The two play at Southmoreland Tuesday.

Section 4 - Serra Catholic (10-0) has clinch a tie for the section title and can win outright with a victory Tuesday at Seton-LaSalle (9-1). Both have qualified, along with South Park (7-4). Steel Valley (5-6) plays host to Keystone Oaks (4-6) Tuesday with the fourth berth on the line.

Section 5 - Freeport (11-0), the two-time defending WPIAL champion, has clinch a tie for the section title. The Yellow Jackets will claim the title and the top seed in the WPIAL bracket with a win Thursday against Deer Lakes (9-1). The Lancers have also qualified, along with Derry Area (7-3). The fourth berth will be decided when Burrell (4-6) plays Valley (3-7) on Thursday.

WPIAL Class 1A

Section 1 - O.L. Sacred Heart (11-0) has clinch a tie for the section title and can win outright with a victory Tuesday against visiting Beaver C.C. (11-1). Quigley (8-4) and Rochester (6-6) have claimed the other two berths. Quigley is at Beaver C.C. on Thursday.

Section 2 - Frazier (11-1) has clinch a tie for the section title. California (9-3), Carmichaels (9-3), and Geibel (8-4) also have qualified. Carmichaels traels to California on Tuesday. Geibel is at Frazier on Thursday.

Section 3 - Bishop Canevin (12-0) has clinched a tie for the section title and will most likely be the top seed in the WPIAL bracket. Fort Cherry (10-2), Brentwood (9-3), and Chartiers-Houston (8-4) also have qualified. Fort Cherry plays host to Bishop Canevin Tuesday, then travels to Chartiers-Houston Thursday. Brentwood is at Bishop Canevin Thursday.

Section 4 - Greensburg C.C. (10-2) and Trinity Christian (10-2) are tied for first place. The tie will be broken Thursday when the two face off at Greensburg C.C. Leechburg (9-3) and Vincentian (7-5) also have qualified.
