Quotes from Canon-McMillan coach Sheila Mitchell: "Donny is one of the toughest players I know. A strong athlete, Donny picked up the middle hitter position as a freshman and he has been unstoppable ever since. The amount of power that comes from his swings shows just how much he cares about the team and helping them win the game. He is often even unsatisfied if he gets a point off of a tip or off-hit; Donny wants to hit the ball hard. This year he has 85 kills and a .398 hitting percentage. This has to be the best hitting percentage I have seen in my years of coaching, and it's so fun to watch! A leader on the team, Donny has been working with the future hitters to show them what it takes and his talent and passion is carrying on through the underclassmen.
