Name: Will Kuhns High School: Hempfield Grade: 11 Position: Outside Hitter Background Info: This is Kuhn's third year as a full time starter and second year as co-captain of the team. He was selected to the Section 3 AAA second team his freshman year and was a first team All-section player last year as a sophomore. He also was a member of the soccer team but now has devoted his time solely to volleyball. He also plays club volleyball in the winter and will be attending the Junior National Championships this summer in Dallas, TX. He has been getting interest from various college coaches around the area. Quotes from Hempfield coach John Howell: "Will is an extremely skilled and coach-able player. He spends a lot of time in the off season working on strength and conditioning and being an all around better player. He is very helpful with the new players and stays very level headed during a match even though he is a super competitive player. Will has been placed in a very difficult role being a team captain at a young age with such a young team but he has made the transition very well from player to team leader. With no starting seniors on the court this year, Will has helped stabilize the team confidence and constantly encourages and supports the sophomores and freshmen on the court. He hopes to play at the collegiate level after graduation and will surely be an asset to whatever school he plays for." |
