Class 3A Feature Athlete (April 17)

Name: Wes Hoge
High School: Seton LaSalle
Grade: 12
Position: Middle Hitter

Background Info: Hoge is a two-year starter who also got playing time as a sophomore. He was a foundation player during the transformation of Seton LaSalle volleyball from a team that struggled to qualify for the playoffs into a top tier program. Wes has made himself into the best middle hitter in our section. Wes attended numerous volleyball camps and plays for Exile Volleyball Club in the winter and will play in Dallas at the Boy's Junior National Championships this coming summer. Wes has also worked with Brian Ceponis, a former 10 year professional volleyball player, on his technique. As a result he was recruited by five different college teams and has chosen to attend and play for Geneva College next fall.

Quotes from Seton LaSalle coach John Lawrence: "If I could have wished for a player with the work ethic I needed to turn this program around two years ago, I would have wished for someone like Wes Hoge. I can count on several things from my boys but the foremost is that Wes will be in the gym first and Wes will be in the gym last. We do a lot of off season training. More than a few times I arrived for an open gym and Wes was there before me and had the net set up and was practicing his jump serve. Wes is a quiet young man who leads by example but at the same time has a wonderful sense of humor. I have learned that Wes is very dedicated to his family, his church and his teammates. I coordinate the recruiting for Exile Volleyball and a bunch of schools were chasing Wes. Curt Conser at Geneva College is lucky to get him."
