Class 2A Feature Athlete (May 8)

Name: Brock Saftner
High School: Our Lady of the Sacred Heart
Grade: 11
Position: Setter

Background Info: Saftner is one of the top academic students at OLSH, and does so while juggling the rigors of football, where he was a starting defensive end/linebacker for the Chargers, who were the WPIAL champions this year, and volleyball, where he will be a big reason for the Chargers making the post season after a two-year hiatus.

Quotes from OLSH coach Mike McDonald: "This is Brock's third season playing for the Chargers. He is often overlooked by a lot of coaches due to the dynamic play of three other hitters in the OLSH lineup. Brock brings a great competitors mentality to the game and has a toughness that allows him to play the setter position with an intensity that might not be matched by others. His competitiveness makes up for his lack of experience at the position (2nd year as a starter), but he is more than willing to fill a "need" for the team and does it with leadership and quiet performance that his teammates and myself can count on."
