Class 1A Feature Athlete (Sept. 4)

Name: Olivia DeSarbo
High School: Beaver C.C.
Grade: 12
Position: Libero

Background Info: DeSarbo didn't start playing volleyball until 9th grade and made an immediate impact for BCCS in her freshman year as she started at libero and helped the team to the 2018 section title. She is also the point guard for the basketball team, runs track, and had a supporting role and solo in BCCS' school musical, Mary Poppins. She is on the high honor roll and is active in her church youth group and volunteers in the children's program.

Quotes from Beaver C.C. coach Christen Adels: "Olivia is very coachable and quickly picked up the game after switching from soccer to volleyball. She has tremendous focus and drive and gives 100 percent ever day in practice. She leads the team in digs, and we will rely on her serve receive and defense to help us reach playoffs. Her efforts were noticed Saturday at the Canon-McMillan Tournament, as South Fayette Coach Scott Sundgren commented that Olivia "anchors the defense and is aggressive, scrappy and never gives up on the ball.""
