Class 1A Feature Athlete (Sept. 15)

Name: Lizzie McCaslin
High School: Beaver County Christian
Grade: 12
Position: Setter

Background Info: Lizzie didn't start playing volleyball until 9th grade. Given our small school, girls often have to play a position based upon the needs of the team rather than what may fit them best if they were playing for a larger school. Given Lizzie's athleticism, she was trained as a setter since day 1 and stepped right into the starting setter position her freshman year. She has started all four years and earned Second-Team All WPIAL Class A Honors last year as a junior. Lizzie also came out for the basketball team as a junior and was one of our best defensive players.

Quotes from Beaver County Christian coach Christen Adels: "Lizzie is fun to coach and has a great work ethic. She is the strongest server on the team and has never-ending energy to play a full day of volleyball. She has worked hard to develop her all-around game, particularly her defense, and it has made the team better this year. She is the floor captain who does a good job 'directing traffic' on the court, which has helped our 9th and 10th grade varsity starters learn the game faster, and I'm looking forward to see how this team develops by the end of the season."
