Name: Fred Schein High School: Bethel Park Grade: 12 Position: Outside Hitter Background Info: Schein is a two-year starter on the volleyball team at outside hitter. As a freshman, he worked his way from the JV team to dressing varsity games by the end of the year. Losing his sophomore season was difficult, as he had to wait to get his first varsity experience, but he worked very hard as a junior to get himself up to speed. As a senior, he is a team captain and team leader in kills. He has also found success on the basketball team and in the classroom. Quotes from Bethel Park coach Zach Smith: "Fred has incredible leadership instincts. He knows how to get the most out of his teammates and has become the unquestioned leader on and off the court. He's been a great example for everyone around him of the power of hard work. His work ethic sets him apart from learning different positions to remaking his whole approach. What he does in practice when nobody is watching has led him to the success he's found this year. After watching the work he's put in, the struggles he's gone through, and the challenges he's to overcome, it has been a pleasure to watch him go out on the court and have fun this season." |
