Background Info: Alvarez has been playing volleyball for 8 years, beginning in 5th grade at Queen of Angels. She has played club both at Allegheny Volleyball Club and Westmoreland Elite. She has been a two-year starter for Norwin and is one of the team's captains. She also plays lacrosse, loves to snowboard, and enjoys working out at the gym on a regular basis. She is also a high achiever academically and has been spent the past two summers working in internships through both UPMC's Magee Womens Research Institute and the University of Pittsburgh's Biotechnology and Bioengineering Lab, researching ways to slow down Ovarian Cancer and it's metastasis. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, a global scholar, and is in HOSA (Health Occupational Students of America), Spanish Club, Peer Mentor Buddies, Ski Club, and was the secretary of FBLA. She has a 4.0 GPA. She has lettered all 4 years in lacrosse.
